What a night. Once I concluded that the majority of America apparently doesn’t like holding someone to their word, it got me thinking of the slew of possibilities for America’s future. The Good, the bad and the downright ugly. However, consider the following. Now that this federal bout is finally over and done with, the GOP still has one gate to keep Barack at bay for the time being. The legislative branch resulted in pretty much what we all expected. A Democratic Senate and a Republican house. This in of itself, will make the life of everyone’s favorite golf buddy that much harder for the foreseeable future.
The beat goes on. The same momentum Obama has had these last two years (or lack thereof) will continue. I like to think that everything is not lost because I’ve always been an optimist. Especially, when it comes to the greatest nation on God’s green Earth. I think we all want the same thing. Stability. Stability from not only a financial standpoint, but from a government standpoint. Let’s just hope Obama can pull something out of his hat that cultivates some semblance of unity between both sides.
While in school, I once went to a President’s Lecture Series on campus one night to hear a man speak about government and the importance of this one priority of which no one ever talks about…maintenance. Every few years we seem to change the oil, swap out the fluids and are still left with the same crappy, unreliable engine that constantly likes to break down and compel one to pull every follicle of hair out from his/her scalp. We need to perform a complete overhaul and swap out this lemon of a federal government juggernaut and replace it with something consistent and most importantly…RELIABLE.
So, let’s make this happen come 2014. Swap this rusty block continually spitting oil for something a little bit better. I think the American people deserve better. And if you thought this election was almost too much to handle, then pull up your bootstraps and put your helmets on. Because this next midterm election (and the last two years that will follow afterwards) will make this look like a comfortable day at the beach.
Until we meet again. Cheers.
